Season Nine: Good or Bad idea?

Bad

  • JD & Elliot will be in 6 episodes to make the transition into the new season. Judy Reyes will not be returning. The show will be focused on Dr. Cox, Turk, Janitor & the interns. It will air late 2009 - early 2010 on ABC. (All this information came off ABC's website too, so it's legit).
    • ABC Website? please provide URL. Remlap1986 11:50, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
  • That was the perfect ending. The only other finale that ever made me cry was M*A*S*H. This finale did what it was supposed to and it was by far the best ending to a show. No season 9.
  • My Finale was a great series finale, but a bad season finale. It's stupid to do another season with how great the last one ended.
  • Scrubs lived for 8 long years, and provided laughs and drama along the way. Through those 8 years, we had some of the best character development on television, while consistently being humorous. That was a feat that can't be recreated. Scrubs ended perfectly, everyone's stories were solved. Scrubs has always been about JD. If there is no JD, there is no Scrubs, so please let the show die. Ending it now is the perfect place to end it.
  • The Season Finale was way to perfect not to end on, they should'nt make any more, if it was with a new cast it should be called something else. like "Newbies" or something, like a spin-off.
  • A new season without the main characters, in my opinion, shouldn't be called Scrubs anymore.
  • I think that a new season without Zach and Faison is a bad season. Blopa 16:56, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
  • I agree, the show was created to revolve around JD, even the episode titles were written to have come from JD's thoughts. If Zach Braff leaves, the show will die a slow painful death even if Season 9 is to be made. SamIAm 16:07, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
  • I loved how the actual character played off of each other. Without the entire cast,it will not have that certain quality that made it such a good show. I'm also not a big fan of this seasons interns. As in I don't think they're strong enough to carry a whole entire series. Sure they could try and do it. That doesn't mean it is going to end up being good. So I hope they don't try a ninth season. If most actors leave, then scrubs has run it's course. --NeuroticMarshmallow 00:39, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
  • To be honest i only really watch the show for the original cast so I don't think it would work without them
  • JD, Turk, Carla and Dr. Cox are definitely not returning. I haven't heard anything about Elliot but I would think this would be the case for her as well.
  • Scrubs is defined by everyone's quirks and how well all of their disfunctions function together (for the show not necessarily for the characters.) But this season we have seen all of the characters make major progress to correct those disfunctions as well as taking steps to move on to bigger and better things. If suddenly everyone were to come back it would make all of the truly great parts of this season (which were written with a finale in mind) utterly pointless.
  • I hate when shows go on longer than they should. Scrubs should end now so that they can leave on a good note! Don't risk it with a new cast!!
  • This show is about J.D. and his relationships with those around him. It was very rare for a huge plot point to be made that focused exclusively on other characters. The show was/is written from the perspective of J.D., excluding the obvious His/Her/Their Story episodes, and without J.D. as the main narrator the show would fizzle. There absolutely no way the show could continue and be good without J.D. and crew staying as full-time cast members, not recurring ones. If ABC truly wants to do another show, make it a spin-off. Don't continue using the Scrubs name when it isn't exactly that.
  • Imagine Friends continuing without Ross & Rachel and Monica & Chandler. That is what the Scrubs would be like without J.D. & Elliot and Turk & Carla. Would you really want to watch that show? Remember, the people hated the show Joey.
  • I want the show to end on a good note, like an episode called "My Finale", if it continues with a new cast then it will probably makes the whole show weird with two different generations - and it will probably start loosing viewers and just end after the end of a random season - just watch the last episode of Season 1 or 6, and imagine how much you would dislike that to be the last episode of the series, rather than My Finale. Also, the new interns wouldn't work at all because they have such strong personalities that are used for comedy, the main cast are the ones with personalities you can relate to. --Jake (Captain Price) 06:01, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
  • I'd also like the show to end on a sweet note. I think the ending they did with My Finale was probably the best way to end the series. If they continue the show without the original cast, or creator Bill Lawrence, I can only imagine it continuing as a shell of it's former glory. The show should go out with a bang, or at least end on a super sweet note, like I feel they did with My Finale. I'd rather they end the show now while it's good, instead of continuing it in a downward spiral of decay. That's what I think would happen if they continued without Zach. - Yoyoddd 20:06, 6 May, 2009 (UTC)
  • The ending montage showing JD's future (it was made out to be a possible future but we all know that it's going to happen) was the most beautiful part of the entire show from all 8 seasons. It is the one moment that upstages Ben's funeral scene from season 3. If season 9 happened, either we would all already know what was going to happen, or none of that montage would end up happening - in effect ruining that wonderful moment. Our walk with JD and scrubs as we know it is over. Scrubs didn't actually "end" because the ending was very open-ended but we will no longer be joining any of those characters to partake in their shenannigans again.
  • Bill Lawrence himself said the season finale would feel cheapened if a season 9 of Scurbs in any form were to arise. So no personally they should leave it alone.
  • Anyone remember what 'That 70s Show' was like without Topher Grace? I rest my case.
  • Lets face it. Without JD and the real crew. The show will die in ratings. Tyler Krueger
  • If there is going to be another season, I won't watch it. I want to remember Scrubs the way it ended in My Finale... It don't depends on the presense of Zach (but of course he's irreplaceable)- maybe it's just a show but I feel like I have travelled a long way with Scrubs, some of the best memories are connected with the show, and it is the time for the end of a wonderful journey, irretrievably...
  • I would absolutely not like to see another season of Scrubs w/out JD and the main gang. Furthermore, they'd have to name every episode "His ..." "Jo's ..." or "Their Story 24" if JD was no longer around to use "My" The ending was perfect, the story is over.

74.75.90.95 23:29, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Whatever comes after season eight isn't Scrubs. After My Finale, it would be unfair- No, suicide if Scrubs continued. Even if Zach Braff, Judy Reyes, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke appears in a couple of episodes, it would still be (as I think that J.D. and Turk would put it: "one of those lame-ass spin-offs' of a really good TV-show that only last for like a season." Let's face it people, Zach Braff is Scrubs! Scrubs is the main cast! Scrubs is over! // Dr Edd
  • My prediction is that they are going to milk it, and cancel the show due to low ratings in 2-3 seasons. A terrible way to end, they should leave it on the top, like friends, and it will become a television legend.
  • I want the show back, but I wonder how they're going to deal with the relationship between Dr Cox and JD. JD finally got from him what he's been searching for the entire series, so they can't just go on as if nothing happened, but in the same way would it work if their dynamic changed too much?
  • My Finale finished the series so perfectly, i don't know why they want to ruin it by dragging out another season or maybe more if they're lucky that will most likely get cancelled because fans don't like it without 50 percent of the old class, and also it not even being set in the hospital? are they kidding? it's like an alaborate april fools prank. I will watch the new episodes and maybe they will be good but I doubt it.

Good

  • They should keep Sunny, Denise, Katie and Derek, and get a new other guy character, and have Johnny C as chief of medicine still and keep some others like ted, todd, jordan, janitor and lloyd etc. as guest stars.\
    • They have another guy character in Howie
      • Yes and Howie was just a terrible character.
  • I would like to see a new season with the new interns as a "new generation" with McGinley as the Chief of Medicine.Blopa 16:56, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
  • I would like to see a new season with the new interns. I don't see why they couldn't just do what ER did and have a ever-evolving cast.--Jonhobson 18:26, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
  • The new season would work with the new interns, but only with McGinley staying on. John C. could carry the show several more seasons. If they do continue, they need to make a concerted effort to retain at least two or more of the notable characters from the series. Personally I would love it if McGinley stayed on and Ted was made a main character for the coninuing season, heck bring Kelso in as Chief Resident as he misses being a doctor. That would create a base of recognizable characters to interact with the new intern/ residents. That is the only way it would work.
  • It hasn't been ruled out that the old cast could do cameos, I say bring on Season 9!
  • I say stop Scrubs it was a good ending but they should have a Spin-Off to see some other characters
  • I would actually like to see another season of Scrubs. I can't really not have Scrubs, honestly, when I saw My Finale, I died a little inside. Scrubs is honestly the only reason I watch TV right now. They shouldn't name the show Scrubs, however, just to keep that name intact. But remember, guys. Neither Braff, Faison, Chalke, or Reyes were really big names until Scrubs happened. Maybe the same will happen with the new cast. Who knows? And I saw in the Season 9 page that Braff could be making some appearances, which wouldn't make it so bad.
  • I also belive in a new season, - or I've got an idea! "Legal Custodians" with the Janitor & Ted :D FOR REAL!
  • I believe a season 9 could be good. From what ABC was saying, they would only do it if JD made guest appearances. It wouldn't have to ruin the 'My Finale', because JD would only be visiting the hospital, or possibly work there for a few weeks like other doctors have in the past from scrubs (Remember Kevin Stacey [Michael J Fox... Eh?]) and he could hang out with Turk. But it could be good to focus on the new interns as well as a bit more depth into the current secondary characters like Ted and the Todd. They could also bring back old characters!
  • they should keep scrubs going we have to know what happens after an idea would be have jd work at the new hospital for about a week then have him move back adn have kim come so he can see sam and then continue the laughter and drama.
  • Some claim that Turk, Dr. Cox and The Janitor are not coming back. Have those people done any reasearch? Turk might come back in the main cast if his pilot isnt picked up, Dr. Cox is the same, the janitor is the same, Elliot is coming back for at least 6 episodes, JD is coming back for at least 6 episodes. The interns are also good so why not? THE FINALE WILL NOT BE RUINED BY MORE SCRUBS. Why would it be? This is a stupid statement. Will you not enjoy the finale merely because you know there are more episodes? The finale will still be the same.

What do you want to see in Season Nine?

  • I want to see the resolution of Dr. Cox and Jordan. I know they are in a committed relationship, but it would be nice to see them re-tie the knot. We're also probably going to see Carla's second child which might explain her absence from the show. As for Janitor, since Neil Flynn's pilot was picked up, we probably won't see him around anymore. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 21:00, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
    • I doubt Jordan and Dr Cox will remarry, we have seen them married in an episode and you could see that them being divorced is just what they are meant to be. As for Carla, who knows if she'll even be in season nine as she was one of the ones who said they were quitting with Braff after season eight. And Neil Flynn thank God, has signed for season nine to appear as a series regular although he will not be in it as much as he was due to other projects.
  • I want to see J.D. propose to Elliot as soon as he gets home from Sacred Heart the day of My Finale, that's really just it. Remlap1986 21:59, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
  • I want to see the proposal and wedding of J.D and Elliot. Sure they did a good job selling their future in the season eight finale, but I believe that they need to make that part come true and at the end of their six episodes Elliot announce that she's pregnant. (A4J), 4 June 2009
    • All we do know about Sarah Chalke's appearances is what Bill Lawrence has said she may do one or two episodes. Remlap1986 14:27, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
      • Sarah Chalke confirms shes back but not for how long, I right now cant see a show with Elliot that doesnt involve J.D. in some way, so I guess shes only doing six episodes like Zach Braff. Remlap1986 21:31, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
  • The New Interns as central characters.
  • Well, I'd like to see JD and Elliot's wedding, and Elliot being pregnant and all that. But I think most of all, what I'd like is for ABC to suddenly realize that this is a terrible idea that ruins a perfect ending and risks alienating a loyal fanbase. But, since this won't happen, I'll be satisfied with the wedding, which I think a lot of fans have been looking forward to for a long time. 71.222.166.245 06:19, 11 June 2009 (UTC)V
    • I'd love to see their wedding to, but I dont really want to spoil the book of love scene from My Finale - that and its a new show in all but name they dont want to focus to much on The Dorians. Remlap1986 13:03, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
  • An obvious difference in the relationship, and more mutual respect, between JD and Cox.
    • I don't think we are going to see much of that now J.D. has left the hospital, I don't expect to see much interaction between J.D. other than Elliot and probably Turk Remlap1986 22:10, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Please get rid of JD's beard. I lived with it for a while, but it kinda took away from his childishness. I realize he was supposed to grow up a lot, but it was just too weird after 7 seasons.

Season 9 new format

I heard the new format was to go medical school style which I think will be interesting, but I think they should also make sure they keep some of the focus on the patients of Sacred Heart after all that is one of the reasons that made scrubs into scrubs. I also still think they need to do the proposal, pregnancy, and wedding of J.D and Elliot. I am a big fan of that couple and think that this needs to happen to make a permanent mark in their relationship. I know they did a good job selling it in the season eight finale, but that is when they did not think they were coming back for a ninth season. So like I have been saying I think that the first six episodes should be mostly about J.D and Elliot's relationship growing towards married life and having a baby of their own and Elliot finally getting what she has always wanted: A BABY!

  • Quote Bill Lawrence: The flash-forward epilogue just showed J.D. and Elliott together, and I'll stay true to that. Those two will still be together. But next season won't be about tracing that relationship [1] Remlap1986 21:31, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

I also heard about the potential for a new cast of interns if so who will they be, have they scratched off the interns from season eight or will some of them be back. Denise I thought was the best intern out of all the interns, so I am just wondering about the status of those characters and that season nine will act more as a comedy of the Paper Chase. I have never seen that show so how will the idea of medical school and a comedy style out of the Paper Chase counteract with each other.

  • No interns this year medical students instead, Denise played by Eliza Coupe is being considered to return [2], I have not seen Paper Chase either, but it was meant to been a very popular sitcom and basically Scrubs has been compared to M*A*S*H way to many times so it might be a good thing. Remlap1986 11:18, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

I almost think they should do a spin-off about J.D and Elliot with Sarah Chalke of course as Elliot and since Zach wants to direct movies maybe get someone else to play J.D. Turk and Carla, but with someone else playing Carla since Judy Reyes wants to do movies as well, move over to St. Vincent's

  • LOL Train Wreck that would totally suck, sorry but that just totally is, It be a funny twist if Zach was still around and its s traditional family sitcom with four cameras focusing on Elliot's new life as a home maker though. Remlap1986 08:17, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

I heard Denise Mahoney will be a regular in the new season and that she will be chief resident at Sacred Heart, which will mean a fast forward in time since she was an intern last season. Now if that's the case then maybe Turk and Carla will now have three children since from what stories were told is that they were expecting and then had a baby boy in the finale montage. Also, this could maybe mean that J.D and Elliot are now married and have a child or are expecting either way. If that is the case I think it would be a perfect final resolution to season eight finale end fantasy. This is just my opinion, but I am sure Bill Lawrence will do an amazing job with the ninth season regardless if any of these are possible.

  • Lovely post mate, I really enjoyed reading that, it was not a fantasy it was an implied flash forward which wont be ruined it probably will be used a basis for what happened in their lives. -Remlap1986 15:53, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Since Denise Mahoney is coming back as a series regular I was then thinking maybe Derek Hill, the surgical intern, should come back as well. They were pretty much in a relationship since they were having sex on a case by case basis and you can somewhat tell they both having feelings for each other. I think Derek should come back and have him and her in a real relationship since they both help each other out both perfessionally and personally.

What should Scrubs' ninth season be titled?

  • If it is set at a medical school, who not Scrubs: Students. I've also liked Scrubs 2.0 but I'm partial to throwing "2.0" behind anything. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 05:31, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
    • I don't think 2.0 is really good. Maybe for geeks (I would like it, but probably the majority of viewers would find it weird). Now for the name: What about Students in scrubs, Scrubsies, Scrubs: The Coxian years, Schcrubs (Love that one - Scrubs and school combined). Ok, not really good name suggestions after all, but I'm really bad at that. chrisis123 07:07, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
      • I have a gut feeling the first few episodes will be still called Scrubs without an actual opening sequence except for a cut to the X-ray and Scrubs, this would allow the new name to be settled in after the major plot and location changes have been implemented. My suggestion for the new show is I haven't a clue, it so hard I am sure even the crew are having trouble. Remlap1986 12:30, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
        • This is just my opinion take it or leave it as they say but for an idea of the name maybe Scrubs: Sacred Heart & Beyond or Scrubs: Nine Years Later.
          • All these new name suggestions are terrible, it's like "Saved By The Bell: The New Class" it's so corny, but i definately don't think they should continue the show with the name scrubs either. I honestly do think though that they should just end the series because the show will either continue with the name scrubs and everyone will say "i stopped watching that show when all the characters left" or it will be an other terrible spin-off that no one liked. (i know there are exceptions and there have been great spin-offs before) but I really don't this is gonna work at all.
            • You are not a true fan if you think the need to complain about something before you have even seen it, good day Remlap1986 16:59, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
              • I think it should be just called Students. They should remake the title sequence with the new characters and setting, but still with the similar x-ray theme.
                • Not sure if Students is catchy enough to get people interested, and it sounds pretty lame. Remlap1986 14:47, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
                  • How bout this for a title Scrubs Gone Medical School.

What do you think of the new characters; Drew Suffin, Lucy Bennett and Cole Aaronson?

  • They sound quite funny, but is Lucy meant to be the main character? --Jake (Captain Price) 23:29, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
    • That is a good point, I don't think so to be honest, or any of the three new cast members. Drew is definitely the character I most look forward to. -Remlap1986 14:40, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

What's been written here is obviously not that spoilerific - Is there anyway we could have a section dedicated to larger spoilers? --Remlap1986 17:08, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

What will happen to this article when S9 starts

Hey all, I just wanted to clarify the plans for this article when S9 started. On December 1st, after 9x1 airs, all upcoming information will be moved to the spoilers page. We will not list any cast members who have not appeared until they appear. This is to keep consistent with how the Season category pages grew for the past 2 active years on the Wiki. Rationale: When S9 begins I want this article to be a non-spoiler article, as many new people will be looking at the article for info. Take a look at the most visited articles - S9 is already #7, and S8 is #1. Thanks to everyone who has been helping make this article great so far! S9 is under a short month away! --Ohmyn0 (talk) 02:50, November 3, 2009 (UTC)

Season Nine Color

Quick recap: The colors for each season correspond with the most prevalent color on the DVD artwork. Season 8 threw this for a wrench, but orange was chosen because of the orange pill bottle that is so large on the cover. Plus we already have 3 blue seasons.

Season Color White Font needed?
Season One 003399 yes
Season Two FFFFFF
Season Three 90EE90
Season Four FFFF66
Season Five 660000 yes
Season Six FF6347
Season Seven 87CEEB
Season Eight FF9900
Webisode 99CCFF

For season nine, based on the publicity photo of the crew in the medicine cabinet, I vote for a silver/gray possibly with a blue tint. We can change it later, but I really dislike the white. Here are my suggestions. Please vote below your favorite, or feel free to add your own. Vote for one, but feel free to switch your vote however many times you please. I'll pick the color with the most votes next Tuesday and change the templates over. (Add your vote by placing only 3 tildes. Please <br> between votes.) --Ohmyn0 (talk) 22:25, November 11, 2009 (UTC)

  • I have added three more choices from actually the tiles from the press photos of the med students and Denise Mahoney behind them. Remlap1986 14:06, November 12, 2009 (UTC)
    • Brilliant! --Ohmyn0 (talk) 15:17, November 12, 2009 (UTC)

I just wanted to mention: the reason why I think we shouldn't use the bottom colour (which currently has the most votes) is because there are already 3 seasons which use blue tones (1, 7, and the Webisodes). Therefore in my mind it would be better to use a different colour. I just wanted to point that out! --SignorSimon (talk/contribs/email) 18:16, November 17, 2009 (UTC)

  • I agree. Most of this wiki is blue already, so it wouldn't hurt to change it up a little bit. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 21:51, November 17, 2009 (UTC)

"Era" Headings

New to wikia. Should we have "era" headings on the episode list? For instance before season one have a heading that says "JD Era" or something. And then before season 9 have "MED School Era." Just to have clarification that it is a new "era." I know technically it's not a new show but Bill Lawrence wanted to call it a new show, and since it kind of is, it might be good to havbe those headings. What do you think?Scrubsforever 00:53, November 12, 2009 (UTC)

  • I like your idea, but I think the episode titles already do this for us. You also just gave me an idea of adding a "narrated by" line on the Template:S9. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 15:17, November 12, 2009 (UTC)
    • This could be introduced for the His, Her and Their Stories. Remlap1986 12:33, November 18, 2009 (UTC)

It's despicable how much the Wikipedia articles for Scrubs S9 is a rip off of the info we've accrued here. This happened with Interns too and It makes me upset that they will get more traffic. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 03:49, November 25, 2009 (UTC)

Timeline for S9

Here is a quick timeline for S9 based on the idea that 18 months have passed since My Finale, which I am assuming happened on May 6, 2009.

  • Feb 2009: Carla finds out she is pregnant. ("My Absence")
  • May 2009: J.D. leaves Sacred Heart. ("My Finale")
  • Nov 2009: Carla has her second child, leaves Sacred Heart to be stay-at-home mother.
  • Apr 2010: Elliot gets pregnant.
  • Nov 2010: J.D.'s first day teaching at Winston U. ("Our First Day of School")

This looked fishy to me so I looked at several medical school academic calendars, and most begin classes in September. So here is a rearranged calendar adapting the 18 months the the Winston U's likely calendar:

  • Dec 2008: Carla finds out she is pregnant. ("My Absence")
  • Mar 2009: J.D. leaves Sacred Heart. ("My Finale")
  • Sep 2009: Carla has her second child, leaves Sacred Heart to be stay-at-home mother.
  • Feb 2010: Elliot gets pregnant.
  • Sep 2010: J.D.'s first day teaching at Winston U. ("Our First Day of School")

Comments? I say we base our decision based on the more logical one: the second. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 16:41, December 6, 2009 (UTC)

  • I edited the time line to suite because the classes starting in September sounds far more logical. --Remlap1986 16:52, December 6, 2009 (UTC)
    • I just found out: The New Sacred Heart Hospital ground breaking ceremony was in December 2009 (probably Dec 12th or 13th, can't make it out exactly]]. I got that from a screenshot of the scene, where we see Cole's family in "Our Drunk Friend", uploaded here:

      • Looks to be October something 2009 to me. --Remlap1986 13:12, December 7, 2009 (UTC)
  • It looks like October 32 to me. And most universities start classes in August, not September. Edit: You're right. Sept. sounds right. Plus its closer to the 18-month estimate. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 15:32, December 7, 2009 (UTC)
    • Very odd if it was October 32nd, also it looks to be October 11th 2008 to me, click the image to see zoomed in version. This would fit in with the time line of how long it took to be built. --Remlap1986 16:01, December 7, 2009 (UTC)

Episode count

I don't think this is suitable to go on the article page, but I'd just like to record some of the episode counts we've seen.

  • 18 - initial rumor that it was going to be 18 episodes long. This may have been taken from a BL interview, or just an assumption from the S8 ep count.
  • 13 - for now the official ep count. Assuming S9 continues to perform decently well, such as 9x3 did, we may see more.
  • 22 - iTunes assumes there will be 22 episodes this season. They may just be assuming as well. iTunes and change the ep. count whenever they want and refund/charge more

Production Codes

Hello, can anyone link me to a source that states episode 5 "Our Mysteries" was produced as 909 and episode 9 "Our Stuff Gets Real" was produced as 905. It would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Yeah, I know about those links but they're not relieable sources. I'm asking this because I need it for the Scrubs season 9 page on Wikipedia. I looked through this wiki and saw somewhere on the history page where someone said they found the info from one of the writers' (Brian Bradley) twitter account, but I can't actually find his twitter page. Any other help would be great.

  • They are reliable - Anyway here it is: here I feel its unfair you are expecting US to find info for Wikipedia --Remlap1986 17:17, January 27, 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, it's just I thought this would be the best place to ask. Thank you so much though!

  • No problem I guess --Remlap1986 17:21, January 27, 2010 (UTC)
