Title explanation[]

I was thinking we could add a new section to each episode page to explain the title. Anyone with me?--X5x tim 20:35, November 19, 2009 (UTC)

  • I had this idea a while ago, but it ultimately went to the wayside because I also had a billion other ideas. I think that better than a small section on each article, we have one long list. Go ahead and create one! --Ohmyn0 (talk) 22:51, November 19, 2009 (UTC)
  • Ok, I want the opinion of one more person and then I'll start the article/articles. --X5x tim 07:02, November 20, 2009 (UTC)
  • I'd say: Go for it, might be interesting. And even though most titles are self-explanatory, some really are not (e.g.: My Way or the Highway or My Choosiest Choice of All). --chrisis123 08:50, November 20, 2009 (UTC)
  • Ok, I will create a section at each episode page then, 'cuz a single article sounds like a real brinner spoiler. --X5x tim 18:08, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

Wiki name change[]

I'm thinking that the name of the wiki should be changed to "Sacred Heart Hospital Record Library". It would fit perfectly on a number of levels.--Sodordude 02:51, January 3, 2010 (UTC)

  • I think a name change could confuse things. As far as google searches go it might affect page ranking - unless you know that the Scrubs Wiki is now called "Sacred Heart Record Library" you would search for simply "Scrubs Wiki". I think it's perfect as it is. Alexq 23:12, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

Spoilers[]

I haven't done much wiki editing before, mostly just grammatical corrections, so I don't know how hard this would be to implement, but having a spoiler rollover or something like IMDB does in the plot keywords section would be nice. I have been working my way through Scrubs and am currently on series 3. I read the wiki page for each episode as it finishes, as I like to know the extra bits, but for one episode I watched recently (and not for the first time) it mentioned something that foreshadowed what seems to be a major plot point in series 4. It's just pretty annoying to have that happen. Any thoughts? Alexq 23:18, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

  • Unfortunately this wiki software doesn't have any rollover features yet. Condolences on being spoiled, but this wiki is a record of everything from all seasons and sometimes, out of necessity and ease, it assumes the reader is up-to-date on all episodes. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 01:01, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Space[]

New edits to the front page are a huge waste of space to be honest there is loads of white to the right before you get to the next section --Remlap1986 22:00, July 3, 2010 (UTC)

  • Dang. It is probably because you are in the UK and are getting different ads. For the past month I've had to put up with these Frontline ads that are very long. It was pushing down the entire character box. Take a look at removed image. I think it may be because they want us to pay for Ad free wikis. I've already submitted it to wikia to have the frontline ads removed, but I haven't heard anything back. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 00:24, July 4, 2010 (UTC)
    • I have the same problem, I'm in Austria and get different ads too, and get an image like that removed image. I have a screen resolution of 1280x800 on Firefox 3.6. --chrisis123 06:34, July 4, 2010 (UTC)
      • Chris - where are the "Explore, Build & Edit, Share" boxes that should be under the ad? Are they pushed down? Level with Lucy/Cole/Drew? If so, please zoom out of the web page and take a screen cap. I'll report it to Wikia and see what they can do. I know we're supposed to have 2 columns on the entire Main Page to avoid this, and it may take some redesigning. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 18:28, July 5, 2010 (UTC)
        • Here's a removed image, the layout is a bit off because of the zooming but you should get the idea, the objects are all vertically at the same position as at normal zoom, only horizontally it's a bit off... --chrisis123 18:57, July 5, 2010 (UTC)
          • Thanks, I'll send this off to Wikia. Definitely shouldn't be doing that. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 21:53, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

Ad collision[]

Hi. I fixed the main page so that there's no more ad collision. However, User:Remlap1986 appears insistent on rolling it back to looking like the screenshot attached to the right. I don't think that's how you want your wiki to look. If you'd like some help sorting it out, please let me know. —Scott (talk) 21:04, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

  • Since I am not in the US I don't see this collision or my screen resolution is different to yours, but you are doing makes the front page look horrible. --Remlap1986 21:07, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
  • The screenshot was taken at the web standard resolution. I would recommend going with a fixed width on the wiki so that everyone sees the same thing when designing pages. See Muppet Wiki or DC Database for example. —Scott (talk) 21:16, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
  • That is out of my league but I see what you mean. --Remlap1986 21:24, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
    • I have no idea how to make the right columns fit so can someone help --Remlap1986 22:18, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
  • The Music section was too wide, pushing the right column out of frame. Should be fixed now. —Scott (talk) 22:51, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
      • That's perfect now we need to have a nicer background -Remlap1986 23:42, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

Looks great now thanks very much Ohmyn0 --Remlap1986 00:47, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

  • No problem. This was something we needed to fix for a long time. When the DVDs come out, we'll delete Template:Next, so we'll need to shorten the left column. I also would like to #switch the Featured article at some point in time. But I do believe this Main Page is future-proof... at least for now. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 00:50, August 25, 2010 (UTC)
    • Any suggestions for something to swap out that part instead? --Remlap1986 01:50, August 25, 2010 (UTC)
      • When the DVDs come out, we'll replace the "next" part with a "featured quote" section. That'll move to just above the featured character. -- Ohmyn0 (talk) 00:09, August 31, 2010 (UTC)
  • Looking good now, thanks to both of you for your work, Ohmyn0 and Remlap1986! --chrisis123 06:10, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

Background[]

Hey, I just noticed you uploaded a background image. I'm not generally opposed to one, however that one imho makes parts of the site really hard to read and kind of looks out of place to me. Or is this just a temporary solution? --chrisis123 07:47, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

  • For now I've reduced the file size greatly and no real compromise on picture quality. --Remlap1986 13:56, August 27, 2010 (UTC)
  • Thanks, Remlap. As you can tell, I was tinkering with it last night and had to quit before I got it perfect. And Chris - I know the background of the toolbox (recent changes, staff blog, etc.) is strange and I'll try and fix it. Otherwise, I thought a new background was just a fun new change to the wiki. I took it form the S9 photoshoot. We just had so much blue everywhere that this greenish color gave the site a new splash of character. But I'm definitely open to changing it if everyone wants to. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 15:25, August 27, 2010 (UTC)
    • I would suggest something simple maybe logo in the top left and maybe a heart beat monitor line to the left vertically? Cheers --Remlap1986 15:28, August 27, 2010 (UTC)
      • I've been looking at Twitter backgrounds, which really have the same effect. I am opposed to images of characters and places, etc. It needs to be as subtle as possible. I'm not opposed to creating a new one, but I know none of us are super-talented with photoshop. I don't think the logo is necessary (it's in the Wiki logo already) but I do like the heart rate monitor. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 15:52, August 27, 2010 (UTC)
      • That's better I was more thinking the other direction down the left hand side, I have uploaded a new background.jpg to see what you think? --Remlap1986 16:51, August 27, 2010 (UTC)
      • I had a bit of fun with it and blurred and added the joke I guess --Remlap1986 17:25, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

Colours[]

Nice additions to the style sheet and logo much easier to read things, I guess my turfed to pathology line was bit to crude but it made me laugh so I guess that's good :D --Remlap1986 12:10, September 27, 2010 (UTC)

  • I removed "Turfed..." because I only saw a couple of the letters... different screen sizes. I really have nothing against it if you have a strong preference. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 16:02, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
    • Great point that never entered my head --Remlap1986 16:04, September 27, 2010 (UTC)

Post-S9 Clipboards[]

Since Scrubs is over now why not actually revert back the clip boards to one with the older hospital logo, since that's what the majority of the show was. --Remlap1986 15:28, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

  • I went ahead and started a new section... So you're talking about:

vs.

IMO the new clipboard is a MUCH higher quality image for the site, plus it is more of a medical-style clipboard. I'm definitely against going back to the original type of clipboard, but not against tweaking the silver board to reflect the earlier seasons. What would you replace "Go Owlcats!" with? --Ohmyn0 (talk) 15:52, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

  • Keep the new clip board but I like the band-aid on the old one. --Remlap1986 16:49, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

New Skin[]

Hi what does everyone think of this new skin Wikia is rolling out to every wikia wiki except unencylopedia

For me it just sucks the life out of wiki's making it incredibly hard to even view them let alone edit them, them trying to make it "user friendly" is actually making it harder.

Cheers

---Remlap1986 23:53, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

  • It still has its kinks. I tried to edit it a bit to allow us a little more freedom (for example, I widened the article pages and removed the obnoxious "photo attribution"s.) I think it is a good look for some wikis, but I agree - I was totally happy with what we had. No use complaining - we've got to play by their rules. I am definitely glad that the ads are out of the articles now. --Ohmyn0 15:10, October 8, 2010 (UTC)
    • Also I've read that people with dominate right eyes are having problems viewing the skin my right eye is is dominate and am getting headaches from it. This is well documented on Wikia community. --Remlap1986 15:22, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Main Page Slider[]

Any ideas on changes to be made to the main page slider? I've gotten a little tired of the four images. I think we should save the "scrubs newbie guide" and "wiki newbie guide" since they are extremely useful. The "Babes" image is popular too. But it is time for a refresh. I'm open to any ideas. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 00:45, May 17, 2011 (UTC)

I like the Where are the Scrubs stars now? page --Remlap1986 00:23, May 18, 2011 (UTC)
  • Good thinking. I changed it up. But from now on: no more pictures of J.D.! --Ohmyn0 (talk) 02:39, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

Here is my current plan: change it every two weeks and have it include these four slides:

  • High-quality article
  • User engagement article (top ten, etc.)
  • Educational "welcome" article (newbie guides)
  • New articles/current events/etc. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 20:38, May 27, 2011 (UTC)

Some will stay longer than 2 weeks. But for the most part I'll try to keep it fun and current. As always, leave requests and ideas here. Next change: Monday June 6. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 20:38, May 27, 2011 (UTC)

Main Page changes[]

I will be making some changes to the Main Page that will result in better SEO, but will reduce a bit of the simplicity and design. It's a test and if it helps, then we'll keep it. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 17:52, June 8, 2011 (UTC)

New look[]

I had a flash of inspiration and decided to revamp the Main Page. Let me know if you hate any particular aspect and we can work on it. You'll also notice I've been tinkering with the main character pages. It's a bit of a different approach, but I think it has potential. --Trevor (Ohmyn0) (talk) 09:10, September 24, 2011 (UTC)
