A Scrubs reunion has not been officially green-lit or confirmed but many of the main cast have mentioned a willingness to return for a limited-run reunion season or movie.
Many other 1990's and 2000's sitcoms (e.g. Will & Grace, Gilmore Girls, Full House) have seen reunion seasons, and networks such as NBC and ABC are happy to invest in nostalgic series that have existing fan-bases.
Some of the cast & crew have overlapped since Scrubs ended in 2010, most notably in several episodes of Cougar Town. In October 2018 series creator Bill Lawrence and Sarah Chalke (who portrayed Elliot Reid) announced they would be co-producing a new series on ABC.
On November 17, 2018 the entire Scrubs cast held a reunion panel hosted by Vulture. They discussed the possibility of a reunion and creator Bill Lawrence stated that it would most likely be a movie checking in on everyone's relationships and families:
- “If we ever do it, we’ll do it as a short little movie or something else. I think the problem from me is I would just want to see where everyone is. I would want to see where their marriages are [as opposed to a huge event].”— Bill Lawrence
In a June 2020 episode of the Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald podcast Zach Braff and Donald Faison said that the cast was interested, it was just about getting Bill Lawrence motivated and ABC interested in a reunion movie.
