Sandy and her husband Steve Larkin were pregnant and expecting a child, but Sandy was taken to Sacred Heart early when she began having heart problems. It turned out that she had a faulty heart valve. Dr. Cox was approving of her spunk, and told her that the only thing they could do was wait. When Sandy's condition worsened, Dr. Cox asked Steve to decide whether to deliver the baby early or not. He panicked and left for some air, but J.D. got him to make a decision. In the end, Sandy, Steve, and their child were all alive and happy. ("My Philosophy")
