Robyn was admitted to Sacred Heart after passing out at work, and Elliot Reid diagnosed her with malnutrition. Dr. Cox gave both of them grief about not eating enough to stay healthy, and told Elliot she was being hypocritical for telling Robyn to eat more. ("My Inconvenient Truth")
The next year, Robyn was back at Sacred Heart, having lost even more weight. Though Elliot was at first convinced that Robyn had anorexia, Robyn's insistence that she had been eating plenty eventually led Elliot to believe something else was ailing her. She later discovered that Robyn was HIV positive, to Robyn's immense grief. ("My Full Moon")
