Synopsis

2x8 OBGYN club

The OB-GYN club at Sacred Heart

While J.D. and Turk steal food and toilet paper from the hospital and work extra shifts to cover expenses, Elliot is comfortable living off her father's money and Dr. Cox is very comfortable with the hot pharmaceutical rep, Julie Keaton. When Turk finds an extra shift in paediatrics for him and J.D. he neglects to tell J.D. about a hundred dollar difference in price and keeps the money for himself. Upon finding this out, J.D. gets Turk out of a job, forcing him to ride around in an ambulance and a rift to form in the friendship.

When Elliot's father, Simon Reid comes to town, he tries to get Elliot to change her career into OB-GYN, until Elliot stands up to him, and he takes her off his support, causing Elliot to fend for herself and move out of her deluxe apartment.

2x8 Turk JD Rowdy

J.D. covers his jiblets with Rowdy.

Jordan comes back, six months pregnant with another man's baby and tells Dr. Cox that she wants him back, forcing him to choose between her and Julie, Dr. Cox first goes with the immediate pleasure Julie provides, but after realizing that regardless of their problems he still loves Jordan, he picks Jordan.

When J.D. and Carla are talking, J.D. realizes how committed Carla is to Turk (and that he took the money because he and Carla are saving money together) and immediately goes to tell him about it, Turk also saying that he may ask her to marry him. Their friendship resolved, the group go out to dinner, despite the fact that they are hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.

2x8 JD crying

J.D. cries when Dr. Cox winks at him.

Luckily for Turk, revenge is a dish best served cold.... Not unlike this tapioca pudding.J.D.

The average resident owes over one hundred thousand dollars in med school loans, and makes about as much as a waiter. So you have to do things to make ends meet. Like, you can cover someone's shift... Or you can steal stuff from the hospital. Or you can moonlight at an urgent care center... Or, you can steal stuff. Or your dad can pay for everything... Or, well... you know... J.D.

This is the reason why your headache didn't go away: That's actually pronounced analgesic, not anal-gesic. Sir, the pills go in your mouth.Turk

Maybe the best thing to do is just stop trying to figure out where you're going, and enjoy where you're at.J.D.'s narration

Trivia

  • When Turk tries to prove his knowledge of The Brady Bunch by describing exactly which episode J.D. is referring to, he's actually wrong. He claims the episode "Marcia Gets Creamed" was in season 5, episode 3, while it was actually episode 7 that season.
  • When J.D. and Turk are loading the pudding into the trunk of J.D.'s car you can see that the car is a Volvo.
  • The hospital's attending gynecologists are described as a "girl's club" although in season 5, a male gynaecologist, Dr. Matthews begins working at Sacred Heart.
  • In J.D.'s pillow fight fantasy the OB/GYN girls are wearing Omega Beta Gamma shirts, a fictional sorority.
  • Dr. Cox's song "Perry's Gonna Get Some Loving" sounds a lot like Turk's "I Get To Cut You Open" from "My Day Off".
  • Dr. Stone, who Dr. Cox claims Julie slept with, later appears in My Fallen Idol.
  • In the final dinner scene, Turk, Carla, J.D. and Elliot are on the roof of Covel Commons at UCLA.
  • Interestingly, Dr. Cox and Julie are watching Survivor, the show that airs opposite to Scrubs on CBS and often gets higher ratings than Scrubs.
