One day, Mr. Frances brought his son to Sacred Heart Hospital. Although it turned out to be a minor infection, J.D. and Turk realized that the boy was the right age and eligibility for a cochlear implant. His father didn't want him to have the implant because their deafness was one of the few things that connected them, because he only had custody on some weekends. In the end the boy's mother was tracked down and she signed the forms and he had the implants.
