Before he began directing, Marc started as an actor and had minor roles in shows like Star Trek: The Next Generetion, Doogie Howser, M.D., Tour of Duty and L.A. Law. Marc has directed episodes for many TV shows, including Ed, Medical Investigation, The Jake Effect, My Name is Earl, Sports Night and Better Off Ted. He has also been the executive producer for episodes of My Name is Earl, The Jake Effect, Medical Investigation, and the movie The News, among others and a writer for Better Off Ted. Marc has been nominated for 3 Emmys, and has won one for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy Series for My Name is Earl in 2006.
It's possible the character Ted Buckland is named for him.
