Lee Thompson Young played Derek Hill on Scrubs.
Bio[]
Lee Thompson Young was born in South Carolina. When he was 10, he portrayed Dr. Martin Luther King in a play called A Night of Stars and Dreams. After high school, Lee attended the Professional Performing Arts High School in New York City.
In 1999, Lee appeared in a small film called Johnny Tsunami. He then was cast in the series The Famous Jett Jackson as Jett Jackson which ran for 46 episodes. Lee later held recurring roles in the series The Guardian, South Beach, Smallville and FlashForward. Lee has also appeared in episodes of Jake 2.0, Kevin Hill, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and held a supporting role in Rizzoli and Isles. On the big screen, Lee can be seen in the films Friday Night Lights, Akeelah and the Bee, The Hills Have Eyes 2, Mano, and Five Year Plan.
Lee wrote an episode for the series The Famous Jett Jackson and the screenplay for the film Mano.
Lee died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on August 19, 2013, after suffering from bipolar disorder for years.
