Jonathan Southworth "John" Ritter (September 17, 1948-September 11, 2003) was an American actor and comedian who played Sam Dorian on Scrubs.

Bio

Ritter was born in Burbank, California. He attended Hollywood High School, where he served as Student Body President. He went on to the University of Southern California, majoring in psychology. Ritter had 3 children with his first wife Nancy Morgan: Carly, Tyler, and Jason; and a daughter named Stella with his second wife Amy Yasbeck. John Ritter died on September 11th, 2003 as a result of aortic dissection.
