When John was admitted to Sacred Heart, his two brothers came with him. They are very supportive, but very conscious of their manhood. He joked with Carla and Elliot that his brothers accidentally bumped wieners while wrestling in the bathroom. When John is diagnosed with breast cancer, he becomes very ashamed and decides not to tell his brothers. His doctor, Elliot, and nurse Carla disagree with this decision but stick by it.
