James Michael Tyler was born on May 28th, 1962 in Winona, Mississippi. He, in addition to appearing on Scrubs, has appeared in many other different TV series such as Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, Just Shoot Me, and Friends as well as several movies such as Motel Blue, The Disturbance at Dinner, Jason's Big Problem and Foreign Correspondents. Tyler was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2018, but did not publicly disclose his illness until June 2021. The cancer metastasized to his spine, leading him to use a wheelchair. He died from the disease at his home in Los Angeles on October 24, 2021, at the age of 59.
