Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald is a Scrubs rewatch podcast hosted by Zach Braff and Donald Faison. Every podcast episode features Braff and Faison, who played J.D. and Turk, discussing a single episode of Scrubs. In addition to sharing highlights of the episodes, they share behind-the-scenes information and answer fan questions.
The first episode, covering "My First Day" was released on March 31, 2020 and the Season Eight finale "My Finale" was covered on the March 5, 2024 episode. The podcast plans to continue to cover Season Nine and continue beyond, with a new non-Scrubs format.
Guests[]
Guests to date include series creator Bill Lawrence, actors Sarah Chalke, John C. McGinley, Judy Reyes, Neil Flynn, Ken Jenkins, Robert Maschio, Elizabeth Banks, and Scott Foley and producer Randall Winston and writer Michael Spiller, among others.
Production[]
The podcast is produced by Joelle Monique (who is down to get down) and edited by DJ Danl. While not producing this podcast, Joelle is a pop culture writer and critic. Danl famously got married without inviting anyone else from the podcast, despite receiving a lovely gift from Zach. In his free time, Danl likes to stream on Twitch and occasionally still DJs.
Various music numbers have been submitted by listener TFresh including the bop "Joelle Monique is down to get down."
The podcast hit the road on June 10, 2023 when the gang performed live at the Moore Theatre in Seattle, Washington.
Scrubs Wiki shout-out[]
On the fourth episode at the 8:30 mark, Zach Braff mentions Scrubs Wiki, and Donald and Sarah have some playful banter about our community and wiki. We're glad it's helpful in your rewatch, Zach!
