Eric worked on Scrubs from Season One up to its Season Six, having written 11 episodes and acted as supervising producer on 117 episodes. He has been nominated for 5 Emmys for Scrubs and Bill Mahr's Politically Incorrect. He has also written for Confessions of a Dog, Anger Management and Veronica's Closet.

In July 2022 Weinberg was arrested for sexual assault. Defendants claimed he used his fame from Scrubs as an introduction.
