Dr. Ed Dhandapani was an intern at Sacred Heart Hospital until he was fired for his laziness and unwillingness to learn and study.
About
Ed talking to J.D. ("My Jerks")
Ed didn't seem to really have the drive to be a doctor at Sacred Heart Hospital, but was there anyway. Instead of filling out patient reports, he chatted online about Lost or played on his cell phone. He failed to help a patient who was crashing. However, he was quite excellent at starting new trends and catch phrases. Ed doesn't care about furthering his medical knowledge other than what is necessary, which bothers Dr. Cox, who hates Ed for his laziness (though Ed apparently is still smart enough that he does "better than most" of the other new interns despite his slacking). ("My ABC's") Later, giving Ed a chance to redeem himself, Dr. Cox makes him study a book on heart disorders. Cox fires Ed two days later for failing to name the heart disorder Cox describes, which proves Ed didn't bother to complete Dr. Cox's assignment due to Ed's incompetence. ("My Lawyer's in Love")

- Although Ed appeared in "Our Final Advice", it is still uncertain of how the timeline of the Scrubs: Interns webisode series matches up with Season Eight.
- The reason the character was written out of the show was that Aziz Ansari got a role as a series regular on the NBC show Parks and Recreation during production of Season Eight and he wasn't available for Scrubs anymore due to this.
