Carla Turk, formerly Carla Espinosa is part of the nursing staff who works at Sacred Heart. She is portrayed by Judy Reyes.
About
Like most, made her first appearance in the first episode, My First Day. J.D. froze during his first operation, but Carla stepped in to assist him. She basically plays the role that is standard for nurses in Scrubs; assisting the otherwise clueless doctors. Her serious nature makes her stand out among the other three main characters, (J.D., Elliot, and Turk.) who are usually silly and quirky. Unlike them, she is very rarely embarassed, out-smarted, or made to look like a fool, though she has been called out for being nosy, bossy, and for lacking a sense of humor about herself. Often times, she stands up for her friends, and says things they're afraid to say to Dr. Kelso and Dr. Cox, especially with J.D, who she nicknamed "Bambi", derived from the timid way he came into Sacred Heart. Quickly, she got into a relationship with Turk, which still stands today. At first, she labeled him as a normal idiot, that just wanted a hot nurse, but eventually, he convinced her to give him a chance. Soon after, they started dating, and got married.

- Though she's subordinate to Dr. Cox, she is in fact the only one at Sacred Heart staff whose opinion he respects and who he treats like an equal. They dated once, and he fell in love with her, but she didn't feel the same. Despite often caustic dialogue, they are close friends, and he is Carla's closest confidant on the show. She dislikes Dr. Kelso.

- Turk and Carla's relationship started in the first episode, and continues today. They have hit several rough patches, from her long delay in accepting his proposal, to her moving out after finding he still talked with an ex-girlfriend who didn't know he was married. But they've persevered with the help of JD and couples counseling, and have the longest-running loving relationship in the series.
- When J.D. first started managing interns, one of them was given the nickname "Thumper" by Carla, because she calls J.D. "Bambi". She later was the one to confront J.D. about causing him to quit.
- Is the God-mother of Dr. Cox and Jordan's daughter, Jennifer Dylan.
- Was in medicine 8 years before she met Turk.
