When Betty had given up on life, Elliot snuck Boomer in to cheer her up. She ultimately passed away, and Elliot was suspended for sneaking the dog into the hospital. Elliot realized that she never thanked Dr. Kelso for teaching her for five years, so she thanked him and gave him Boomer as a replacement for Baxter. She told him that if he didn't want Boomer she would take him back, but no evidence has been seen for him giving the dog back. He ended up ending her suspension. ("My No Good Reason")
